Please see below limitations

  1. ESM models and the ESM Atlas are intended to support research, discovery, and hypothesis generation.
  2. Structures, annotations, similarity scores, cluster assignments, and other outputs generated by ESM models or in the ESM Atlas are computational predictions or model-derived inferences that are not experimentally validated and should not be interpreted as establishing evolutionary, phylogenetic, functional, clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic conclusions without independent validation.
  3. ESM model outputs may vary in reliability depending on the target, sequence context, available training data, and protein characteristics, including for underrepresented lineages, short sequences, and intrinsically disordered proteins.
  4. Searching the ESM Atlas uses an AI agent that may generate inaccurate or incomplete responses.
